Discovery of Bikeway!

It was Aristotle who said “In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.” And what better way to experience the breathtaking beauty of nature then by lacing up those sneaks and spending time on the Shining Sea Bikeway?

As a self proclaimed outdoorsian nut, the Shining Sea Bikeway offers nothing but positives. And, if you have ever tried running, biking, or even taking a stroll down a street that doesn’t have sidewalks then you will understand why the bike path is also a safe haven from all the dangers of trucks, busses, and automobiles.

Now that the bike path has been extended from its original 3.3 miles, to 11 miles it offers more options on what to do and what to see. It’s hard to explain just how grand the bike path is because, it offers endless possibilities and scenes that caters to everyone’s likings.

Since I first traversed on the new extended bike path starting of the spring of ’09, I have not yet done the same activity on the same route twice. While the paved bike path is the same path that starts in North Falmouth’s County Road and ends in Woods hole, there are many twists, turns, and side paths to explore.

No matter what the activity, there is someone doing it on the bike path: inline skating, skateboarding, scootering, roller skating, bicycles built for two, and more. It’s entertaining just to watch this parade of fun.

Just remember to dab some sun block on and grab your wallet as you never know where the Shining Sea Bikeway might lead you. You might find yourself stopped and relaxing on one of the many beaches you pass by, or at an art gallery you just scooted by. On a hot afternoon, you might also choose to stop by for a cold one on The Beach Rose Inn’s Shining Sea Pub. No matter what you take your pleasure in, most likely the Shining Sea Bikeway will bring you there – and reveal some breath taking nature scenery along the way.
